its funny how travelling abroad can distort your perception of american reality.

we got back from tahiti over a week ago, and this past week has gone by so fast that i feel like i haven't gotten anything done that i really wanted to do (other than watch OSU get creamed by Louisville).

the vacation was fantastic. bora bora is by far the most beautiful, amazing, and magical place that i have ever seen in my life. everywhere you go is lush; your sense are overwhelmed with sights of green and blue, smells of vanilla and fresh fruit.. but with such a dramatic change in climate and culture comes consequences. we were eaten alive by mosquitos, and our digestive systems were taken for a joyride by the french polynesian cuisine. not to say it wasn't delicious; it was just very... foreign.

oh yeah.. did i mention that everything in tahiti is super expensive? a bottled water is about four bucks, so prorate all of your vacation expenses around that ratio before heading over. somehow we managed to stay on budget, though. i think hitting up the local markets for beer, and duty free for the ole grey goose saved on the drinking cash.

we were also very active on our trip, in contrast. we did a lot of exploring via bike rides and go-kart rental. we fed sharks and manta rays, went jet skiing and got our share of snorkelling in. when all was said and done, we had worn ourselves out and were ready to come home.. only to find ourselves playing catch-up at work and getting sucked back into our fast-paced american lifestyle.

oh well. i have pictures to tell the tale, but i'm struggling to find the time and motivation to photochop and upload them all. they will be up soon, just bear with me. as much as i wish my website were my whole life, it unfortunately isn't (i don't get nearly enough hits for that).

dan finished the wedding video, and it looks amazing. the tweaked-out aspect ratio of DiVX conversion doesn't do it justice, though. this thing looks way better in pure DVD format, but if you aren't going to be seeing me in-person anytime soon, or are super anxious to see it (maybe i'm actually that entertaining), you can download it. its about 80 MB.

oh yeah.. i almost forgot... we got our matching tahitian tattoos! post a comment {0}
